19 December 2012: No beta translations are currently available.
The English translation for the sixth and eighth visual novels, tentatively titled Whisper with a Kiss and Dyed with an Angel’s Petals respectively, are ongoing at Yuri Project. The English scripts are freely available for anyone interested to review and improve at their wiki. At the administrator’s request, I have compiled beta patches to aid in proofreading. This post will be continually updated with the latest available versions for all such patches.
Do not redistribute or hotlink these files as they are expected to change frequently. Link to this page instead.
Whisper with a Kiss – Yuri Project Thread
Released at Petals’ Garden
MD5:
Changelog:
03/12/2012
Release candidate 1: All translations and graphic editing completed.
Effective with this release, all references to the full name of the school in translations by Petals’ Garden and Yuri Project will be “St. Michael’s Academy for Girls”. Past translations will be updated to reflect this change.
30/10/2012
All scripts updated.
Dashes were changed into a standard character, which should correct wrapping errors caused by them not being rendered properly.
Known issues:
In chapter one, Yuuna’s line, 「Well, if you’re going to turn red like an apple, then I might just have to eat you like one.」 has no audio. The associated sound file is corrupt. This is an issue with Whisper with a Kiss itself and we cannot correct it.
The ending credit graphics have not been edited.
Dyed with an Angel’s Petals – Yuri Project Thread
Released at Petals’ Garden
MD5:
Changelog:
05/12/2012
26/10/2012
Translation updated up through chapter thirteen, “Shizuku’s Decision”.
Branches three and four translated.
06/09/2012
Translation updated up through chapter six, “A New Morning”.
Dashes were changed into a standard character, which should correct wrapping errors caused by them not being rendered properly.
Support thread link updated.
Known issues:
The term “Lumière Nova” is incorrectly rendered as “Lumiere Nova” as the text engine does not support accented Latin characters.
Only the first four branches have been translated. The fifth is unedited.
The ending credit graphics have not been edited.
Because the translation will be updated frequently, a no-hearts version will not be produced for the beta. If this is an issue, do not use auto-advance.
In the future, I will create similar provisional patches for all A Kiss For The Petals translations supervised by Yuri Project. These patches are clearly marked as beta versions along with their build dates in the window title. They will be updated on a regular basis to be determined by frequency of user reports and interest. All users are encouraged to use these patches now and report all issues to the corresponding Yuri Project threads, not to me. By downloading and applying these patches, you state that you understand that these are not finished products, the text likely contains major grammatical and translation errors, and that no support will be given for non-critical issues. Because these patches are incomplete, I strongly recommend that you back up all files before patching, or apply these patches to a copy of the folder containing the program. When reporting problems, include screenshots where applicable and the build date from the window title. Report typos, improper line breaks, crashes, and other issues that hinder the current translation. These patchers will create internet shortcuts to the relevant threads alongside shortcuts to the visual novels where they exist as well as in the program folder for convenience.
Despite my past opposition to making unfinished patches available, the philosophy of Yuri Project would dictate that any course of action that expedites translation is a necessity. Their translations have always been public and editable at all times. Despite this, progress on the visual novel translations has been admittedly slow due to the initial volunteer editors being unable to dedicate more time to the projects. In addition, the text files containing the scripts do not include information about who is speaking in each line or if the written text matches the spoken line. For these reasons, it was decided that producing playable betas would both make editing faster and more accurate, and encourage new people to contribute to the translation. We hope that by doing this, we will soon see complete releases that are, to be frank, long overdue.
As a final note, because these patches are not ready for release, please do not list them on VNDB.
